Jared Mass

Founder and Principal

Born in New Jersey and raised in Philadelphia, Jared moved to Los Angeles at the age of 20 and shortly thereafter started his career as an executive at Walden Media, overseeing live action family films including THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA, BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA and MR. MAGORIUM'S WONDER EMPORIUM. After producing THE HIVE and BANDSLAM, starring Vanessa Hudgens, Jared entered the animation business in 2009. Serving as Head of Reel FX Originals, Mass was responsible for developing and leading creative on features FREE BIRDS, starring Woody Harrelson and Owen Wilson, and award-winning THE BOOK OF LIFE with producer Guillermo Del Torro.

Jared was then recruited to join Paramount Animation in 2014. As Vice President of Paramount, he helped launch the company's animation efforts around acclaimed properties like the SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS films and SHERLOCK GNOMES and was also responsible for bringing CLIFFORD THE BIG RED DOG to the studio. After greenlighting the film RUMBLE at Paramount, Mass returned to Reel FX to oversee a new slate of animated original films and to launch a TV business. He oversaw the buildout of a revolutionary new virtual production pipeline that uses cutting-edge technology to redefine the way animated content is produced. Mass sold and produced SUPER GIANT ROBOT BROTHERS to Netflix and the series was released in 2022. It is the first show to be entirely visualized and rendered through a real-time game engine pipeline at scale.

Jared and his family moved to Atlanta, Georgia and launched Chalkdust Animation Studios in the winter of 2022. He's an avid sports fan and enjoys playing music, traveling, and hiking with his wife, daughter and two dogs.
